Even though we got an early start, we didn’t arrive at the Grand Canyon until 10:00 in the morning or so. It was mid-July, and the temperature was quite hot. I wanted to take some memorable photos, so ended up going over the safety railing and walking down a couple hundred meters to the end of an overview. Total difficulty of 4.5 to maybe 5.1, made more difficult carrying around a tripod. When I got back I had to promise Ann no more unauthorized excursions.
